Watch the Trailer for ‘Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage’

The documentary premieres on July 23 on HBO Max

Woodstock 99 was a three-day music festival meant to echo the unity and counterculture idealism of the original 1969 concert. Instead, it devolved into riots, looting, and sexual assaults. Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage, directed by Garret Price and executive-produced by Bill Simmons, delves into the infamous event, which went on to earn the distinction of “the day the ’90s died.” The film focuses on American youth at the end of the millennium and reveals hard truths about the dangers of rose-tinted nostalgia in the age of commercialism and bottom-line profits.

Woodstock 99 will premiere on July 23 at 9 p.m. on HBO Max.
