Responsibilities

Bill Simmons’s website, The Ringer, is seeking full-time fall interns to assist with its podcast network. Duties will include fact checking, research assistance, data analysis, interview transcribing, pre- and post-production and other CMS work, and general office help. Interns will chiefly be responsible for supporting the podcast producers and talent. Social media know-how and writing skills are a bonus, and being detail oriented in a deadline-based environment will be imperative. Interns will have the opportunity to produce pieces.

Qualifications

Interns should have a working knowledge of Slack, Trello, and Pro Tools; basic recording skills; facility with relevant social media platforms; as well as a passion for sports, pop culture, or technology — and ideally all three. Preferred qualifications include experience at a student podcast or television network, newspaper, or magazine; at least one prior internship in a professional environment; experience as an audio producer; demonstrated experience creating content on the latest social media platforms; and a fundamental ability to make sound editorial judgments and balance conflicting priorities. Please submit a résumé, three work samples, and a cover letter outlining why you’re the right fit for The Ringer.

Location and Housing

Candidates must be willing to relocate to Los Angeles, where Ringer headquarters is based. Candidates must provide their own housing and transportation. Parking will be provided.

Program Length and Schedule

While the time frame is negotiable, applicants must be able to stay in Los Angeles for a minimum of 12 weeks. Interns will work 40 hours per week and will be expected to work unconventional hours, including nights, weekends, and possible holiday shifts. Applicants must be able to begin work in September.

Payment

Interns will be paid an hourly rate of $11, but can also request to receive course credit. Full-time interns are eligible for overtime.

Additional Information and Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. college or university, in good academic standing, and available for employment within 12 months of the internship. Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and should be on track to graduate in the spring or summer of 2018.

To Apply
