Your Take
What do you think of where we ranked Tobias Harris?
Analysis
By Justin VerrierPreseason question: You either die a punching bag or play competent-ass basketball long enough to become a hero. Harris’s good-but-never-great act made him a symbol of the Process’s unrealized expectations, but in Detroit, his steadiness morphed into a major asset. In last year’s postseason, as Jalen Duren and the top-seeded Pistons’ hopes melted down around him, Harris was the only one other than Cade Cunningham who could do anything offensively. But rather than re-up in Detroit, Harris escaped this past offseason to San Antonio, another team in need of a veteran problem solver. Harris’s exact role is a question given a crowded forward rotation that already includes Julian Champagnie, Carter Bryant, Keldon Johnson, and two recent first-round picks. But his ability to go get a bucket when a youthful offense gums up or Victor Wembanyama wears down is exactly what the Spurs need in high-leverage situations.
