JoshGiddey

Preseason question: The Bulls’ present and future belong to Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis, so this entire season is an opportunity to see who and what makes sense around them. Will Giddey accentuate Chicago’s two most important players? Can he punish defenses with a pull-up 3-ball, make every pass out of the high pick-and-roll, and leverage his own scoring ability in the paint to create open looks for everybody else? Even though he tied Jalen Johnson for the second-most triple-doubles last season, Giddey’s winning impact wasn’t there. He made only 46.9 percent of his shots on drives to the basket, which was 32nd out of 33 players who logged at least 1,000 drives. He also posted an effective field goal percentage of 40.7 on pull-up jumpers, which was one of the worst marks in the league, and finished fifth in turnover rate. None of that is what you want from someone who has the ball in their hands as often as Giddey probably will.
