JalenSuggs

Preseason question: Suggs is the glue that holds the Magic together, which explains why Orlando is always best when he’s on the floor and why persistent injuries to the sixth-year guard have completely derailed the team’s past few seasons. Suggs has suited up for just 92 games over the past two campaigns, but when he plays, he is a tenacious ball of energy. He connects the sometimes disparate currents of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner on offense, and his wreck-shit defensive mindset gives the Magic their edge. But with a new coach, a rising guard in Anthony Black, and a franchise cap crunch just around the corner, Suggs is in danger of becoming the Magic’s odd man out. His contract, which has four years and $115 million remaining, stands as a major obstacle to any wheeling and dealing as the Magic enter a make-or-break season.
