Analysis

By Kirk Goldsberry

Electric bucket getter who is still trying to earn his playoff stripes.

Preseason question: Can a more complete supporting structure finally translate Mitchell’s talent into a Finals appearance? Mitchell is one of the finest pure scorers in the league. His ability to blend volume and efficiency is nothing short of elite. But now that he’s 30, the legacy questions are beginning to get pretty loud. This season represents a grand opportunity for Mitchell and this robustly talented Cavs group to win the Eastern Conference. Mitchell and James Harden are one of the most potent offensive duos in the league, but, man, if they flounder again in the playoffs, both players’ disappointing postseason legacies will only become a larger part of their stories.
