Welcome to Black Girl Songbook, Season 2. Author, journalist, and host Danyel Smith is back with another season dedicated to celebrating the genius of Black women in music. This season we’ll be celebrating the life of Aaliyah, Beyoncé’s best work, and the boss career of Rihanna, plus much more. You can also expect more profiles and in-depth conversations with songwriters, choreographers, producers, and artists, as well as personal stories from Danyel. In addition to great storytelling, Black Girl Songbook will play the songs of Black women artists that shape our world in full. Starting August 25—and every Wednesday after that—Black Girl Songbook is the place where you will hear and feel Black women in music receiving the credit they are due.
