The Takeaway
The Player
Moore has a hard time staying healthy, but he’s a talented corner with a high ceiling whose tape is better than his production suggests. He has unpolished hands, but he’s smooth turning and running in press coverage. He reads receivers and makes it difficult for them to stack him. He runs well and can turn his head to locate the ball on vertical routes. He closes well while breaking on the ball and has good body control for a taller corner. He flashes a good feel for route combinations in zone looks and can match up with tight ends working out of the slot.
He didn’t run well at the combine and reportedly ran an even slower 40 time at his pro day, but his speed shows up on tape. He underwent groin surgery right after the season ended, and he reportedly ran in the high 4.30s before that, so it’s possible he’s still recovering. He kept up with Tennessee WR Chris Brazzell II, who ran a 4.37-second 40 at the combine, when the two faced off last season.
Moore has small hands and drops passes, but he exhibits the ability to track and high-point passes like a receiver. (He intercepted five passes in 25 career games.) He takes too long to sink, stop, and drive once he opens his hips and sometimes gives receivers too much of a cushion. He can get manipulated by the quarterback’s eyes in zone and off looks. He can get stuck on blocks, but he’s quick to trigger, and he doesn’t shy away from contact as a run defender. He squares and wraps up as a tackler.
He has a lengthy injury history aside from the recent groin surgery. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury and missed the last five games of the 2024 season. He missed five games with a back injury and a concussion in 2023. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury and missed eight games in 2022.
The Draft
Moore’s injury history is concerning, and the way teams view his medical file will play a big role in where he gets drafted, but he has the tape of a day-two pick and would be in the mix as a top-10 corner with a clean bill of health.
The Projection
Moore is talented enough to compete for a starting job and develop into a team’s top corner if he’s able to stay healthy and regain the speed he’s shown on tape. His game has shades of 2022 fifth-round pick Zyon McCollum, who’s started 39 games over the past three seasons.
