Offensive engine who can still take you where you want to go—unless that’s deep in the playoffs.

Preseason question: Man, we’ve been asking the same thing about this dude all decade long. Does any of this even matter until May? Even if Cleveland wins 60 games, earns the 1-seed in the East, and logs incredible offensive marks, none of us will care because we refuse to get fooled again. Even at 37, Harden is undeniably one of the shrewdest players of his era, but he’s also one of the league’s biggest choke artists. The only thing that could change that would be a brilliant performance in April, May, and June. I’m not holding my breath.
