Titles are highly coveted in Game of Thrones, and through four episodes of Season 7, only one title is more valuable than the one attached to the Iron Throne — and that’s Midseason MVP.
Characters have come out of the woodwork this season to make a play for the belt. Arya took out an entire house in one poisonous swoop, then won a sparring match against Brienne of Tarth; Euron captured his niece, decimated an enemy fleet, and made a play for Queen Cersei’s heart; Cersei was the mastermind behind a plot to capture Highgarden and (we think?) she repaid the crown’s debt to the Iron Bank; and, well, Drogon can still breathe fire.
So, who takes home the title?
There was no consensus. Andy Greenwald picked Drogon, who won Daenerys her battle against the Lannisters and survived a crossbow shot to the shoulder area. Jason Concepcion chose Grey Worm for his successful sacking of Casterly Rock and his budding romance with Missandei. Mallory Rubin said Jon Snow, because he’s the only person in the show focused on stopping the White Walkers, and Chris Ryan picked Cersei’s cartographer.
“Great work by him,” Ryan said. “And who knows if Cersei would even know where anything is if it wasn’t for him?”
