Game Notes | Grant (Ca.) @ Folsom (Ca.)
By Charles Drake |

Grant
- S James Sample | 6'3, 190 |
2011
Looks the part physically. Long and rangy safety that
can do it all -- very versatile player. Plays quick and
instinctive. One of the best 2011 safety prospects I've
seen.
- DT Villiami "tiny" Moala | 6'2,
335 | 2011
As the nose in Grant's 3-4, Moala generates push on a
consistent basis -- mostly with his amazing strength and
great leverage. Normally wherever "tiny" is on the
field, you see a player flying to the ground. Leader on
the field both by example and vocally. Pretty good motor
for four quarters. Gets underneath the opposing
lineman's pads with ease. One of the best NG prospects
in the nation.
- ATH Shaq Thompson | 6'1, 195 |
2012
High level athlete -- every BCS team in the nation
should give him a look. Great size and body structure.
Could play WR, RB, S, or LB in college -- projects best
to me on the defensive side. Great hands, awareness. Has
the whole package. Outside of Moala, Shaq was the best
player on the field Friday in Folsom. Special player.
- RB/Slot WR Ference Lang | 5'8,
160 | 2011
Smaller running back with great feet. Quick and shifty
change of pace guy or a possible slot option. Can catch
the ball well out of the backfield and contributes on
special teams both returning kicks and covering them.
Keep an eye on
DE Puka Lopa | 6'3, 245 | 2011
LB Darryl Paulo | 6'2, 230 | 2011
OL Justin Lagaaia | 6'2", 250 | 2012
WR Lychauan Jones | 6'0, 170 | 2012
Folsom
- ATH Jordan Richards | 5'11, 195
| 2011 | Committed to Stanford
Thick lower body. Has the long arms and physicality that
make him play bigger than his listed measurables.
Projects best as a safety. Very active on defense, has
pretty good coverage ability, plays strong at the point
of attack, and doesn't mind contact. On offense, he
shows pretty good hands and above average feet. A one
cut and go offensive player.
- WR Tyler Trosin | 5'11, 185 |
2011
He's just a player -- makes plays whenever he's
presented an opportunity. Runs great routes, excellent
hands and feet. Has a better chance to be a productive
college receiver than his more physically gifted
teammate -- Kori Babineaux. Not a flashy guy, but he'll
play somewhere in D-1.
- QB Dano Graves | 5'9, 185 |
2011
Obviously his height hurts him a ton, but he makes up
for it by using his feet to create throwing windows.
Great football IQ, good athlete -- can gain yards and
avoid pressure with his feet. Multiple passing records
as a junior. Decent arm strength and squares his body
very well on roll-outs. Worth a look for lower tier D-1
programs.
- DE/TE Marcus Hendricks | 6'4,
210 | 2011
Pretty good burst off the snap, plays mostly as a
stand-up edge rusher on defense. Long arms, athletic.
Has the frame to get up to 245/250 and carry it well
should he be asked to put his hand in the ground as a
4-3 DE. Has the tools to also be a TE option down the
road.
- WR Kori Babineaux | 6'3, 205 |
2011
Has good size, but needs to work on his breaks --
doesn't get much separation when going up against DB's
that are as athletic as he is. Has good hands, but
sometimes drops balls due to concentration lapses. Would
like to see him play with more juice. Good upside if
he's motivated to go all-out.
