Brey Cook talks favorites,
visits, and timeline

6’7,
310-pound offensive lineman Brey Cook has acquired over
20 scholarship offers at this point. He is wanted by the
likes of Southern California, Oklahoma, Arkansas,
Alabama, Notre Dame, and many others. He recently
received four new offers and he speaks on what each of
those offers mean to him.
USC: “USC is a historic program and it has always been
great. It was really exciting.”
Mississippi State: “It was good to finally get
confirmation. I had heard I had got the offer on the
internet, but I had never talked to any of the coaches.
I wasn't sure if I had really gotten it or not.”
Memphis: “Memphis is also a big offer. They are close to
home. I had not talked to them at all. I had never
really heard anything from the coaches or anything like
that. It was kind of random. The first letter I got from
them was an offer so that was exciting.”
Notre Dame: “It is a historic program and that is just
one of the great things. Rudy was on TV the other day
and I thought that was pretty cool. It is huge. Everyone
knows who they are and what they do. They are just a
great school. If I take a visit up there and it is where
I want to play that is where I will go.”
Brey said that he is currently favoring Alabama,
Arkansas, and Oklahoma over other schools, but teams
like Southern California, Notre Dame, and Auburn are
right there behind his top group. He briefly spoke on
why those three schools have separated themselves from
the rest.
Alabama: “I took a visit over there and looked at
everything. I like the way the campus is set up. I like
how they run things down there. One of the biggest
things that they have that I did not notice at other
schools is a great FCA [Fellowship of Christian
Athletes] program. It seems to be run very well so that
is a cool deal.”
Arkansas: “The Razorbacks, they are huge. I have always
been a huge Razorbacks fan. I just got back from one of
their practices today. It was cool to see them. They
really got after it today and that is an awesome thing.
I believe it is going to be a good year for them this
year.
“I have always gone to all of the games. I have been
traveling with the Razorbacks since I was a kid. Of
course they are going to be in my top three just because
they were one of my favorite teams growing up.”
Oklahoma: “Their Spring program, their facilities, and
great coaches. They are the perfect distance here from
home. They are close, and they are not too far away.”
During the recruiting process a lot of the prospects get
a chance to form great relationships with certain
coaches across the country. Brey spoke specifically
about Auburn’s offensive line coach and offensive
coordinator.
“All of those coaches from those top couple of schools I
mentioned earlier are all great. They have great
coaching techniques. The way they do everything, I like
it a lot. Coach [Jeff] Grimes and coach [Gus] Malzahn
out of Auburn are great guys. Coach Grimes just went out
of the country on a big trip. I have met him a couple of
times. He is a really great guy. “
Cook wants to make a decision either late spring or
early summer. He is focusing on spring football right
now and after that is over with he will sit down and
attempt to bring his recruiting adventure to a
conclusion. Some factors that Cook will look at when
deciding on his collegiate future are the coaches and
the distance from home.
“I would say a couple of the top factors are the
coaches, how I get along with them, the coaching styles,
and techniques. I am not really going to go anywhere the
coaches are yelling, screaming, cussing, and
demoralizing you the whole time. That is just not who I
want to play for and so I have not run into very many of
those coaches.”
“Distance, it is kind of big, but then again if I saw a
school I really wanted to go to and the only negative
was the distance then I would probably end up going.”
If for some reason Brey is not able to come to a
decision by the time the fall rolls around he will look
towards his official visits to help him narrow down his
search. He said the official visits that he would most
likely take would be Alabama, Oklahoma, Auburn, Notre
Dame, and Southern California.
“If I do not have a decision done then yes I will wait
for my official visits. I will take them to experience
some schools that I would not be able to without the
official visits. Hopefully I will be done with it and
make a decision before then so I will not have to use
them.”

Daniels plans to take his time

Every recruit and recruitnik alike knows how
crazy college football recruiting can become.
For some it's crazier than others and for some
the 'crazy' is what makes the experience so much
fun. Vernon Hills (Illinois) wide receiver
prospect Davaris Daniels would be one of the
'some' on both counts.
