TR Ranking:

6.1 |

State: #2 in Louisiana

Position: #2 DT

Scouting Report:

Scale
10: Special
9: Elite
8: Very good
6-7: Above average
5: Average
1-4: Needs work

Size/Body Structure: 9
Strength: 9
Burst/Explosiveness: 9
Technique: 5
Athleticism: 9
Hand Use: 5
Motor: 8
Aggressiveness: 9
Pass Rush: 8
Run Defense: 8
Durability: 8
Intangibles: 8

Elite athleticism for a man his size. Gets a great burst off the snap of the ball and often beats his defender with quickness and strength. Displays a pretty good motor and has excellent lateral movement. Johnson is already a highly rated player due to his athleticism, burst, and strength at the defensive tackle position, but he also has a lot of room for improvement. He has the raw skills to be a dynamic player on the defensive interior, and if he can get with the right coach to learn technique, pad level, and hand use -- the sky is the limit.

Translation to College:

Has a lot to learn as an incoming freshman if he wants to be dominant on the college level and beyond. With his skills as they are now, he would be a very good college player with the possibility of an All-Conference team or two. With progression in technique, hand use, and the mental aspect of D-tackle he could be a top 5 NFL draft pick and an All-American candidate.

Becoming a hot commodity

For Kiehl Frazier, the awards, and scholarship offers, keep on coming. The 6’3” 210 pound star signal-caller from Arkansas’ Shiloh Christian was just recently named the 2009 4A Arkansas Player of the Year. The next morning, TCU offered him a scholarship. It was the 14th offer for Frazier already.

Now or never for Spurrier at South Carolina

November 23rd, 2004 was an exciting day in Columbia, South Carolina. A day filled with hope and anticipation of what was to come. The Gamecocks had just inked a SEC coaching legend to coach their football team. The "Fun 'n' Gun" was coming to save the day or at least make it better. Surely a coach that led Duke University to an ACC title could fix the little problems at South Carolina.
