Offensive Overview
Heading in to 2010 the UT offense has a lot of holes to
fill, but plenty of talent to do it with. Running back
Tre' Newton will be the starter, and got better every
game in his freshman season. A shift to a more
north/south running game should also help success on the
group in '10 for Texas. The talent at the receiver
position is simply ridiculous; speedster Marquise
Goodwin and James Kirkendoll will see a lot of balls
come their way, but true freshman Mike Davis might be
the wildcard. On the offensive line, the Longhorns bring
back experience on the starting unit, but the backups
are young -- health will be a key. In what should be a
more downfield attack due to his abilities, Garrett
Gilbert leads the new look Texas offense in '10. Last
year's National Championship Game loss was a tough pill
to swallow for Longhorn fans, but that game showed the
promise of the 2010 group and mainly the promise of the
true freshman quarterback. The play of Gilbert in that
game gave UT fans a glimpse
into the future. Coming off a very impressive Spring and
August in
practices, the now sophomore quarterback has the Texas
coaches thinking big too.

Defense wins championships, and Will Muschamp has the
2010 version for Texas is stacked. One of the best pair
of defensive ends in Sam Acho and Alex Okafor apply the
pressure to lead a line that also has All Big-XII
ability at defensive tackle as Kheeston Randall plugs
the middle. The secondary is the best in the nation,
even though they will have to replace ball-hawking
playmaker Earl Thomas at safety. Corners Aaron Williams
and Curtis Brown -- both juniors -- are the best tandem
in America, and Blake Gideon, another junior is the
leader for the safeties.

Prediction
2010 Prediction: 12-0 (8-0)
If Garrett Gilbert limits mistakes and UT can get some
semblance of a rushing attack, the Texas defense in 2010
has a very good chance to duplicate what Alabama's
defense did in 2009 -- win them a championship.

London "T" Time
That's
right -- we're talking Virginia and "T" time, and not
the type that involves your grandma's chamomile, nor the
type you call and set instead of cleaning out the garage
on the weekend. "T" time is "Title" time, and it's going
to be celebrated in Charlottesville, Virginia sooner
than you think.
November 23rd, 2004 was
an exciting day in Columbia, South Carolina. A
day filled with hope and anticipation of what
was to come. The Gamecocks had just inked a SEC
coaching legend to coach their football team.
The "Fun 'n' Gun" was coming to save the day or
at least make it better. Surely a coach that led
Duke University to an ACC title could fix the
little problems at South Carolina.
With the 2010 recruiting cycle inching towards
the finish line, here at ThaRinger we feel it’s
a better time to more clearly evaluate the
off-season’s coaching changes with the recently
gained recruiting hindsight. There were 22 head
coaching changes and not all of those changes
were created equally.
