    Default 13' OL Brad Henson

One of our early NJ targets from this year. He's visited us a few times already and took in a game last season. He's 6'5", 285 lbs and holds offers from us, BC, Rutgers, UCF and WVU.

Not terribly impressed by this kid. He's got good size, moves well enough and has some potential but he's def an inside guy IMO. He gets too high sometimes, gets overmatched strength wise despite being way bigger that just about everyone he plays, and he doesn't get great push in the run game. He's a pretty good pass blocker and anchors well, plus he does a good job sustaining his blocks. He's quick and does a good job on the 2nd level. He'd probably best served as a Center or pulling guard.

He's a decent prospect and should add quality depth and maybe being a starter inside for a couple years at the college level but there's nothing overly special about him. He's a mid to high 3* type IMO. Nothing about him suggests we really need this kid but he's a not someone that is incapable of contributing here either.

It's all about your reference point. I agree with everything you said, but you have to keep in mind that this is a C prospect all the way. He has elite size and decent agility/flexibility/quickness for a C. If he was a more natural athlete he'd be a G or T prospect. He has a lot more natural athletic ability than Tyler Horn, for instance. I think he's a solid C prospect (likely top 10, maybe top 5) and I'd be glad to have him in our class. We haven't signed a C since McDermott so we'll need one this year.

    Better as a center prospect.

Like the quickness and nastiness, but he needs to get a looooooot stronger.

It seems I like Henson more than most of you.

The thing is, I am rating him with the perspective of expecting him to be a center. Under that label, I like what he brings to the table. The fact that he has had the versatility to play tackle, guard, and center for his team is a good thing and shows that he's got some football IQ. He has good size for a future center, and it is quite unique to find a lineman that a BCS level school is recruiting for center that already has experience at the position. Usually, in HS a team will have their best OL at tackle or guard depending on the scheme.

The fact that we already know he is adept at snapping and getting out of his stance is great. I would like him to have some more power, but he does have a solid power base and is fundamentally sound. He isn't the type of OL that can play any spot on the line (i.e. Linder - who I see having a long career in the NFL as a center). But, I see him as someone who can settle into a college program as a center and really progress in his role throughout his career (like I expect of Mcdermott)
