The thing is, I am rating him with the perspective of expecting him to be a center. Under that label, I like what he brings to the table. The fact that he has had the versatility to play tackle, guard, and center for his team is a good thing and shows that he's got some football IQ. He has good size for a future center, and it is quite unique to find a lineman that a BCS level school is recruiting for center that already has experience at the position. Usually, in HS a team will have their best OL at tackle or guard depending on the scheme.
The fact that we already know he is adept at snapping and getting out of his stance is great. I would like him to have some more power, but he does have a solid power base and is fundamentally sound. He isn't the type of OL that can play any spot on the line (i.e. Linder - who I see having a long career in the NFL as a center). But, I see him as someone who can settle into a college program as a center and really progress in his role throughout his career (like I expect of Mcdermott)
