Scouting Report
One of the top 25 athletes I've seen in the 2010 recruiting class. The only
knock is that Jefferson seems to be a player without a position right now. He
has the size of a safety, but the skills of a linebacker. If he can add 20-30
pounds and show the same athletic ability, he could be a special outside backer.
If he is kept at safety, he needs to get better coaching on his angles and back
pedal.
On the field, Jefferson has very good speed to go along with pretty good
football instincts when put in decision making spots. He also displays a
physical prowess when taking on blockers and ball carriers. Very good tackling
technique and strong.
Who He Reminds Me Of
Former Georgia safety and current Carolina Panthers OLB Thomas Davis coming out
of high school.
College Outlook
Special teams contributor right away at least. If he sticks with safety, I
believe he could contribute and be in the two deep from summer on. If he is
switched to outside linebacker, he could either redshirt and add weight if he
hasn't added enough by the end of summer or contribute on special teams and be a
depth guy for a year while his body transforms.
Tony has the ability to be an All-American type player if he's put in the best
position for his strengths to show.
