Plantation (FL) High School’s Ryan Shazier has been attracting attention for a while, but after his recent breakout performance at the Miami Under Armour combine, now his stock is soaring.

“It went well. I ran a 4.43, jumped a 10-4, my vert was 38, in 1-on-1’s nobody caught a pass (on me), in 7-on-7’s I did real good, all my other drills I did real good too.”

Think that’s impressive?

“And the thing about it, I wasn’t 100%. I think I could’ve done better on my broad and my vert.”

It’s performances like those that speak to Ryan’s vast potential and has coaches everywhere salivating. He currently holds offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, South Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Louisville, Ole Miss and Texas Tech and says each school is recruiting him as a dual-role player.

“Linebacker and D-end. They say I’m going to be like a hybrid guy so I can rush and drop back.”

The 6’2.5” 200 pound Shazier said he and his dad are going to spend the summer visiting schools and that there are a few things in particular that he’ll be looking for when choosing which school is right for him.

“The facilities, the educational program, a good family team with good chemistry and a good program.”

Will distance be a factor?

“No, no, not at all.”

Ryan says that Florida and Florida State are recruiting him the hardest and that there are a couple of coaches in particular that he really likes.

“The coaches I’m taking a liking to right now are Coach Gran (Florida State) and Coach Azzanni (Florida).”

He says that his strengths are “my speed and my first step off the ball, my quickness,” and that he would like to work on “my footwork and my strength.”

Shazier plans on selecting a school sooner rather than later.

“I plan on committing early because I want to graduate early. Right now I don’t have a favorite team. They’re all equal.”

In closing, Ryan had this to say, “I want to thank my team because if I didn’t have them, I wouldn’t be here right now because they’re the ones that helped me get all my stats. Right now I’m working going to this 7-on-7 team called South Florida Express to help my footwork and my 1-on-1’s to keep getting better.”

Ryan comes in as a 5.8/4 star prospect after TR's Junior evaluation.
