 Two
on top for Brown

Mack Brown, a
highly rated running back recruit from Lithonia, Georgia, has some of the top
college schools in the country chasing him, so ThaRinger.com decided to catch up
with the speedster and get the latest on his recruitment, and more.
Brown hails from the state of Georgia, and has a plethora of scholarship offers,
but remains focused on his game, as well as his Martin Luther King High School
team.
“We lost in the first round of playoffs we went 8-2. We’re looking real good
this year coming up.” Brown said. “Personally, I rushed for 1,702 yards at 9.8
yards per carry and 21 touchdowns last year but I still feel I need to work on
my pass blocking ability.”
Though Brown has seen many great high school players in his career, he admits
one distinguished player sticks out above the rest.
“Eric Berry (Tennessee All-American Safety) who played at Creekside (High
School). He can get past you on offense at quarterback,” Brown said without
hesitation. “And he played corner on defense. He was just, wow.”
Brown also says he tries to model his game after another superstar, NFL pro
bowler Adrian Peterson.
“I try to play like Adrian Peterson.” Brown said. “I try to incorporate some of his
moves and what he does on the playing field.”
As far as recruiting goes, it’s no secret Brown is one of the foremost Running
Backs in the country, and the schools he’s considering, all of which have
extended scholarship offers, shows just how highly touted he his.
“At one time I cut it down to Florida and Georgia, but now I’ve opened it up to
a top five of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Oklahoma.” Brown said.
Although Brown says he’s somewhat opened things up, there’s no doubt that
Florida and Georgia have very firmly put themselves in the mix for this 5’11,
192 pounder.
“The thing about Florida and Georgia is they have great coaching staffs.” Brown
said. “Florida says they are going to use me in a lot of ways and get me the
ball a lot and Georgia they run a Pro-Style offense which I think I’ll look
really good in and prefer over the spread.”
Brown has a very busy schedule, which includes stops in college towns such as
Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Athens.
“I’m going to the Florida State camp on the 21st.” said Brown, who has been
clocked in the 4.3s in the forty-yard dash. “I‘m also going to Florida this
Saturday and I’m attending a Georgia camp as well.”
Brown also talked in depth about a timetable for a decision, as well as what he
thought about the very hectic recruiting process.
“I don’t really have a timetable, but I know I want to take my five official
visits to my top five.” Brown offered. “It’s (the recruiting process) pretty
good, but it can be a lot sometimes, though.”
Though Brown may not know where he wants to spend his college years yet, he has
a good idea in mind as to what he’s looking for.
“I’m looking at the coaches’ coaching ability and just a stable coaching staff.”
Brown described.
Brown comes in at #61 on ThaRinger.com’s Top 300 for the Class of 2010 and the
#3 spot for the state of Georgia.
