If you need a pass rusher this recruiting cycle, odds are you've been to
see Dominique Easley. The chiseled Staten Island, NY product is one of the
best prep defensive ends in the country and recently spoke with TR about his
recruitment and more.
Easley stands 6’3 tall, and weighs 260 pounds. He also reports a 4.7 forty
time and a mammoth 550 pound squat. He was part of a Curtis High School team
that finished their season 8-1, ending with a loss in the first round of
playoffs.
As for performance, Easley carried his teams defensive line with 51 total
tackles, and 10 sacks. While there is no doubt that Easley is a definite major
Division 1 prospect, he still insists that he has plenty he needs to work on.
“I would say everything.” Easley explained. “I want to get better at
everything.”
Easley also feels strongly when asked if he would like to model his game after
any one specific player.
“No, I want to be my own person.” Easley said.
When asked about a rumored upcoming commitment to Rutgers, Easley responded with
one word.
"No"
Even with the rumors and pressure to have a decision he seems pretty relaxed
about the whole thing and isn’t ready to pick out any favorites.
“Everyone is open now, I really don’t have a favorite.” said the Staten Island
native. “They’re all good and interesting schools, they’re good programs.”
Easley currently claims 18 total offers, including schools the likes of Penn
State, Boston College, Florida, Michigan, Georgia, Oregon, UCLA, Pitt, Maryland,
and Tennessee. Even with the impressive list, there are still a few colleges out
there that he would like to add onto it.
“I would say Clemson, Alabama, and Oklahoma because I like Clemson, and the rest
of them do really good in tough conferences.” Easley remarked.
What is Easley looking for in the right college?
“Just a comfortable environment and a good education.”
Easley plans to make his decision sometime during the season, or possibly
before. He currently ranks #170 in ThaRinger.com’s Top 300.
